DANB's Glossary of Dental Assisting Terms, now in its Second Edition, will help familiarize
candidates with vocabulary they may encounter on the DANB exams as well as in
the office and clinical setting. This new edition provides an increase in the number of root words,
prefixes and suffixes and a list of commonly used prescription abbreviations was added.
Frequently used acronyms were listed in a separate section for easier access and use. Appendix A, a
listing of organizations that impact dentistry, along with contact and other pertinent information,
was strengthened, and Appendix B, containing a listing of State Dental Boards and their contact information
was updated. Most importantly, the number of dental terms defined has at least doubled.DANB's Glossary of
Dental Assisting Terms, 2nd Edition is a great addition to any dental

Having served as a foundation for
DANB's national exams, the Task Analysis is now available in its
9th edition. This new edition provides outlines for all of the tasks performed by
dental assistants, orthodontic assistants and dental assistants/office personnel
in the practice management nationwide. This 9th edition also provides a list of
common dental acronyms, a sample vocabulary list, as well as sample exam questions
with the answers and supporting rational. A bibliography is printed in the back of
the book to help direct you to other study material. DANB item writers and test
construction committee members use this publication as the basis for test question
and examination development. DANB performs national surveys on a regular basis to
